Heat-shrink tubing with an extra-high shrink ratio
26 September 2024

Heat-shrink tubing is indispensable for many applications, such as protecting and insulating cables and transitions to connectors.
BIT offers heat-shrink tubing with a particularly high shrink ratio of up to 6:1.
Especially with large connectors, a large difference in diameter often has to be bridged. This is where our heat-shrink tubing with a high shrink ratio is in demand:
The BPHW A is a thick-wall heat-shrink tubing with an inner layer of hot-melt adhesive that shrinks at a ratio of 6:1.
It is available in the following sizes (type – Ø before shrinking – Ø after shrinking – wall thickness after shrinking – PU (bar)):
- 19,0/3,2 – 19.00 mm – 3.20 mm – 3.20 mm – 1.22 m
- 33,0/5,5 – 33.00 mm – 5.50 mm – 3.40 mm – 1.22 m
- 44,4/7,4 – 44.40 mm – 7.40 mm – 3.60 mm – 1.22 m
- 50,8/8,3 – 50.80 mm – 8.30 mm – 4.80 mm – 1.22 m
- 69,8/11,70 – 69.80 mm – 11.70 mm – 4.80 mm – 1.22 m
- 88,9/17,1 – 88.90 mm – 17.10 mm – 4.80 mm – 1.22 m
- 119,4/22,9 – 119.40 mm – 22.90 mm – 4.80 mm – 1.22 m
- 235,0/40,0 – 235.00 mm – 40.00 mm – 4.80 mm – 1.22 m
How is heat-shrink tubing with a high shrink ratio shrunk?
For shrinking the BPHW A we recommend using a powerful heat gun or a shrink torch.
Further heat-shrink tubing with a particularly high shrink ratio includes the following types:
BP 400 – thin-wall heat-shrink tubing without adhesive – shrink ratio 4:1
BPDW 104 – dual-wall heat-shrink tubing with inner adhesive – shrink ratio 4:1
PTFE 400 – thin-wall heat-shrink tubing made of PTFE – shrink ratio 4:1
