Cable protection when laying cables and wires underground
Cables and wires laid underground must withstand external influences such as water, moisture, chemical and mechanical influences as well as small rodents.
How are cables optimally protected underground?
Corrugated conduits optimally protect cables in the ground from mechanical effects such as pressure and friction. Subsequent pulling-in of cables and wires is also possible when using corrugated conduits. To protect the cable protection against the ingress of water and moisture, medium-wall and thick-wall heat-shrink tubing with an adhesive coating can additionally be used. For civil engineering, the use of heat-shrink tubing with a mastic coating is often necessary to provide additional protection against corrosion.
Repairing damaged underground cables?
If the sheath or the cable protection of the underground cable is damaged, a shrink sleeve is often ideal for the repair. Thanks to their adhesive coating, these provide permanent protection of the damaged areas.
How do I fix my underground cables?
If you want to permanently fix your cables, wires or pipes, we recommend using rust-free stainless steel cable ties.
