Fiberglass sleeving – mechanical protection even at high temperatures
23 January 2023

Fiberglass is a product consisting of several hundred individual fibres produced by the nozzle drawing process.
Special properties of fiberglass insulating sleeving are, in addition to high temperature resistance, excellent mechanical strength and high ageing resistance. Fiberglass sleeving is often coated with thermally resilient materials such as polyurethane, acrylic, silicone or silicone resin.
Fiberglass has the following advantages:
- high mechanical strength
- high temperature resistance up to over +500 °C
- flammability – as a mineral material, fiberglass is non-flammable
- very good electrical insulation properties
- good chemical resistance and excellent ageing resistance
- easy to combine with other materials such as silicone, acrylic and polyurethane
- not hazardous to the environment
Typical applications:
As protection against high thermal and mechanical stress, fiberglass sleeving is often the right choice. In motors, transformers, electric heaters, industrial furnaces and many other applications, cables and wires must be protected from radiant heat.
BIT fiberglass sleeving is available in many different diameters and colours.
We will be happy to advise you and find the right fiberglass sleeving for your application.
